The world’s longest marriage

On January 4, 2022, an elderly couple from the UK celebrated 81 years of marriage. Last year, Elizabeth II herself honored them with a congratulatory letter!

Ronald and Joyce Bond got married back in 1941. They recently celebrated their 81st wedding anniversary. The couple now live in a nursing home, their marriage is called the longest in the world.

Mr. Bond is now 102 years old, and his elderly wife recently turned 100 years old. Ron and Joyce have known each other since they were young and have been officially husband and wife for 81 years.

The couple's daughter says that her parents belonged to different strata of the population in terms of wealth, and that on the day of the wedding, which took place on January 4, 1941, the lovers were prophesied that their union would be short-lived. Time has shown that the ill-wishers were wrong in their assessments and judgments.

The card signed by the Queen Elizabeth II

Ron and Joyce Bond, despite their rather advanced age, are in a sober mind and solid memory. They, as before, spend all days and evenings together and recall the times of their youth with great pleasure.

Last year, the couple celebrated the Oak wedding - the 80th anniversary of their life together. Elizabeth II herself congratulated them on this significant anniversary. The couple were incredibly happy to receive a postcard from the Queen of England.

When asked about the secret of their long married life, Mrs. Bond replies that in her relationship with her husband "there was never a boss and a subordinate."

“There is no main person in our relations. We both give and take. Of course, we could not even dream that we will live together for 81 years, we are very lucky that we have achieved this amazing goal. Sometimes life can be very difficult, but we overcome all difficulties and hardships together. For eight decades, my husband and I never stopped caring for each other for a moment, ”Joyce said in an interview.

Bond's celebrated their 81st marriage anniversary with a timid kiss

Despite the presence of two children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, since 2013 the Bond spouses have been living in a nursing home, where they are cared for by professional medical staff. Ron and Joy are visited by relatives and friends every week, and as they age, they are even more reverent towards relatives and, of course, towards each other.
