The largest documented destruction of marine species in history

In the 19th century, there were so many oysters in the Chesapeake Bay, USA that they stacked on top of each other like stones, occupying almost the entire place to the surface of the water, which created danger to navigation.

Then they began to collect oysters and for a hundred years almost everything was collected - by 2011, the population had decreased by 99.7%. This is the largest recorded extinction of a marine species in history.
