African king lives in Germany and rules via Skype

Togbe Ngorifiya Kifa Kosi Bansa, better known as "King Bansa of Hoho" is a real African king who does not believe in old-fashioned methods of government. King Bansa is the supreme ruler of the African territory of Hoho in Ghana, there are 200 thousand people in his citizenship. However, about 2 million representatives of the Ewe people who live in the neighboring state of Togo also consider him their king.

But the king of Bansa himself does not live in Ghana, or in Togo, or in any other place in West Africa. His home is located in Germany, in Ludwigshafen, where he once opened his own service station and works there as an auto mechanic. He prefers to live in Germany and rule over his subjects via Skype. King Hoho, 66, moved to Germany as an international exchange student. He literally fell in love with this country, and decided to stay.

Interestingly, King Bansa was named successor to the crown in 1987 when his grandfather, the reigning king, died. Bansa was chosen as the new king in place of his father and older brother because both father and brother were left-handed, a trait considered "unclean" in the Hoho and indicative of a person's dishonesty.

The coronation took place in 1992, but King Bansa decided that the performance of royal duties did not require a mandatory return to Africa. So he still lives in the city of Ludwigshafen, near Frankfurt, with his German wife named Gabriele.

He does it via skype and phone. According to media reports, sometimes the king stays up late at night, trying to deal with various tribal disputes, and without fail visits Hoho at least six times a year. Although King Bansa remained in Germany, he did not allow this circumstance to affect his royal duties. He launched a massive campaign to help Hoho's health care. Also, the king regularly sends different water purification equipment to his home.

Not so long ago King Bunsa got into local crime news. One day, when he returned home, he found that thieves had broken into his house and stolen four golden crowns. Some of the other royal jewels have also disappeared, including a gold chain previously owned by his grandparents.

“The thieves climbed onto the first floor balcony, lifted the door with a lever, then broke into the cupboards and looted everything,” the king told the UK Times. The age of the stolen items allegedly was more than one hundred years, and the total amount of the stolen items is $ 25,000.

Despite the fact that the country became democratic in 1992, its traditional kings still continue to play an important role.

Having become the ruler, Bansa began to build schools, wells, bridges, he donates water pumps and cars. And in order to raise funds for the needs of his people, he now and then appears in German TV shows and at various public events as a singer.

Among other things, in order to finance projects to help the country, the king opened the sale of his beer, produced under the Akosombo brand. However, he never drinks any alcohol himself.
