Shaving your legs: rules and mistakes.

How to shave your legs correctly? Is it better to shave your legs wet or dry? How do beginners shave their legs? Mistakes people make shaving their legs.

If you are completing a laser hair removal course, this article is not for you. We're going to talk about how to shave your legs properly. Yes, as statistics show, this topic is very relevant even in the 21st century.

Shaving your legs correctly

Depilation with wax and cream, electric, photo and laser hair removal - there are plenty of ways to get rid of excess body hair now. Meanwhile, shaving razors are not becoming less in demand.

According to statistics, 40% of German women, 50% of French and Italian women, 82% of Spanish women and 90% of British women prefer to shave their legs.

Here are just a few reasons for this loyalty.

  • It is cheap. Buying even the most advanced razor is unlikely to punch a hole in your budget.
  • It's fast. Unlike laser hair removal, you can immediately enjoy the smoothness of your legs.
  • It does not hurt. Fans of other methods of getting rid of hair are real stoics.
  • There are no ingrown hairs. And if there are some, this happens not so often.
  • Shaving properly will rarely cause irritation. The exceptions are the owners of thin dry skin.

But even this is not the whole list of benefits. Women's shaving razors look spectacular, decorating the bathroom and delighting the eye. And technical innovations make shaving softer and more efficient.

Types of shaving razors

Even such simple devices can be very different from each other.

Double-edged razor

Men fell in love with the most deserved (in the sense, the oldest) option for its effectiveness. And some women do too. Although a metal machine with a blade inserted into its head is not the safest choice.

Note: The blade in a traditional double-edged razor is very sharp, but at the same time it is not maneuverable, so there is a danger of injury to the skin.

Disposable razor

A set of several razors is the simplest and cheapest option. It is suitable for travel, but not for daily use, as it does not work effectively with convex areas: knees and lower legs. After the purchase, the main thing is not to be greedy. The disposable razor is supposed to be used once, and then thrown away, because such a blade loses its sharpness very quickly.

Reusable razor with replaceable cartridges

This option is more expensive, but it lasts longer. There are other pluses as well.

The floating head and multiple parallel blades allow you to remove hair from the most difficult areas to reach.

The special lubrication of the blades lifts hairs for a soft and safe shave.

For some models, the cushion strips for dry or irritated skin are available separately.

Electric razor

These devices are battery operated and come in two types:
  1. rotary electric razors with a rotating head;
  2. mesh electric razors.

Shaving with the help of electric shavers is considered the safest - it is impossible to cut the skin. However, if the razor is inexpensive, the process will take a long time. And the hairs can grow back faster.

How to shave your legs guide

Of course, shaving your legs is not a Newton binomial. But even here hurtful blunders are possible.

  • Shave your legs before bed. Although hairs grow very quickly, it is not recommended to postpone the procedure until the morning. Even the gentlest shave is stressful for the skin, to which it reacts with reddened pores. It takes time to recover from it.
  • Your leg skin will be smoother if you use scrub once or twice a week.
  • Don't rush to grab the razor right away. First, steam the skin with warm water: the hairs will become more pliable.
  • Use shaving gel or foam. They help the blade glide; contain moisturizers, oils, antioxidants.
  • When shaving, do not press the razor too tightly against the skin.
  • If the hairs are long, start shaving in the direction of hair growth. If the hairs are short – shave against their growth.
  • After removing hair, pat dry the skin with a towel. Then apply moisturizer or skin care product right away.
  • Don't forget to disinfect any cuts if they suddenly appear.
  • Be sure to wash the razor. Without regular cleaning, the blade will dull quickly and the next shave can damage your skin.

The most common mistakes when shaving your legs

  • Shaving insufficiently hydrated skin.
  • Using a dull razor.
  • Shaving legs with lather. Very often it irritates the skin - especially dry, flaky skin.
  • Incorrect razor movements.
  • Cuts not treated in time.
  • Using skin care products with alcohol or menthol that may irritate your skin.

Choice of products for and after shave

Skin care for shaving

These products help the shaver glide better. At the same time, they minimally violate the hydrolipid mantle of the skin, contain caring and disinfectants, and prevent possible damage. This is the case when masculine formulas are great for women too.

After shaving skin care products

These products care for the skin, nourish and moisturize it, soothing after the traumatic procedure.
